Trip therapy:

MS and tripping on psilocybin

Yesterday I was the facilitator on a psychedelic trip for a Londoner with MS. This gentleman's past has not been easy for him and that of course does something to this person. The approach of the trip was therefore to accept the past and to live more in the now. A life without fear can also help people with various diseases. Anxiety is a catalyst for many ailments.

What is MS or Multiple Sclerosis?

MS is an autoimmune condition in which the nerve cells of the brain and spinal cord are broken down by macrophages. The result of this is that communication from the brain to other areas will be more difficult. Controlling muscles therefore also becomes more difficult. There is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding MS. We don't yet know the exact cause.

What can help fight MS?

The next thing I'm going to write is still hypothetical at this point. If you were to assume that MS is a reaction of the body to clear damaged cells, then it could be that if you make sure there is less damage, there is less response from the immune system. Less inflammation also means less work for the macrophages. Inflammation can be drastically reduced with a lifestyle change. The image below indicates the things we should prevent and thus get less inflammation.

Inflammatory things that are bad for almost all living things

Vitamin D against MS

Around the equator, the chance of someone getting MS is the smallest. This may have to do with hours of sunshine and therefore with the formation of vitamin D. Sitting in the sun in moderation could just help. Taking supplements with vitamin D or moderate sunbeds can also help.

Diet against MS

A diet can do so much good. We have previously given diet tips against stress and depression. The same diet can therefore also help against MS because it helps in three areas. First, this diet reduces inflammation in the intestines and other locations in the body. Secondly, it indirectly reduces stress. Less stress and cortisol promotes body recovery, which is much needed in MS. Thirdly, this diet increases more serotonin and thus releases BDNF.

BDNF may play a key role in the fight against MS

BDNF stands for Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor and is a hormone (protein) that stimulates nerve cell repair and the production of new nerve cells. Thus, in MS, BDNF may play a key role in repairing damaged areas. Perhaps the increased concentration of BDNF allows the body to repair faster than the immune system could break it down. If you could combine this technique with a healthy lifestyle and therefore fewer inflammatory reactions, this could very well help.

Psychedelics against MS

The highest possible stimulation of the 5HT2a receptor to release BDNF is the use of psychedelics. So these are really mind-altering drugs (English for medication). Psilocin from magic mushrooms, DMT from ayahuasca or LSD stimulates the 5HT2a receptor in such a way that the concentration of BDNF also rises considerably. This combination allows for neurogenesis, which means the creation of new neurons, at a level that is unprecedented.

Magic mushrooms (psilocin), Ayahuasca (DMT,) and LSD increase BDNF in a very effective way, so that brain and nerve cells recover and make new connections

We believe in the beneficial effects of magic mushrooms and magic truffles

Whether magic mushrooms and increasing BDNF can help cure MS has yet to be proven. In any case, it sounds very plausible to me that progress can be made with these techniques. To the question of whether magic mushrooms can help cure MS, we can therefore only answer at the moment that we think it does help.

What do you think?

Do you have MS yourself? How do you think it came about? Have you experienced a past with a lot of stress and anxiety? Does vitamin D and little sunlight play a role in you? Do you think our trip therapy can help? Let us know!
