Microdosing is a hip trend

More and more people are microdosing, with most taking a very small dose of psilocybin (containing truffles/magic mushrooms) daily, every other day or twice a week. Microdosing is used to improve productivity, creativity, improve emotional stability and reduce stress/anxiety. A micro dose is then often about 10% of a dose that would normally give you an average strong trip. As a result, people do experience the slight positive effects, but you can behave enough and do the daily things.

Can you also microdose with MDMA?

Since MDMA and MDMA therapy are getting more attention, more and more people are asking whether you can also microdose MDMA, just like with LSD on psilocybin. Although MDMA is also seen as a psychedelic, it is a completely different substance than LSD and psilocybin. An important difference is that with MDMA, the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin in particular are released from the body's own stores. With psilocybin and LSD you only add these substances to your body and you retain the body's own substances. Furthermore, MDMA is neurotoxic and dopamine plays a role in addiction while psilocybin does not have much to do with dopamine. MDMA can therefore not be used as a microdose because the aforementioned properties ensure that gloom can gradually set in and become worse due to depletion of serotonin and dopamine. Furthermore, the number of dopamine receptors can also decrease or they become less sensitive, which can increase the addiction susceptibility. All in all, MDMA is not a good choice for microdosing, but it can be used incidentally as a therapeutic tool.
