Trip therapy: Synesthesia and sensory overflow during psychedelic therapy

Synesthesia

Every human being has five different types of senses. In synesthetes (synesthesia), those senses merge into each other, allowing them to smell colors or convert a person's feeling into a color (aura), for example.

See this one youtube video for more information about synesthesia.

Psychedelics and Synesthesia

Synesthesia can occur during a psychedelic-based trip. This is because the stimulus conduction will work differently. During a psychedelic trip, certain brain areas can communicate directly with each other. Certain associations can give visual images, for example seeing the music. A hallucination can therefore be influenced by the sensory input during the trip. The trip is therefore a combination of the connection with the subconscious in combination with associations of the senses.

Colors, scents, music and texts play a major role during psychedelic therapy

Stimulating senses during psychedelic therapy

Evoking associations during a therapeutic psychedelic session is what you want to achieve in order to arrive at solutions that lie in the subconscious. Sounds, smells, texts and music always have a link or a place in the brain and it activates the parts of the brain that we want to use to get rid of psychological complaints. We use this knowledge during our psychedelic therapy.

How we stimulate the senses during psychedelic therapy

We use the following techniques to stimulate the senses and make them work together to evoke associations that can mean something:

  1. Aromatherapy (with scents)
  2. Color therapy (with colored lamps)
  3. Music (Especially for psychedelic therapy)
  4. NLP (Words with a certain link for therapy)
  5. An emotionally present trip coach in alternation with distantly present

Trip therapy is more than just psychedelic therapy

The story above is only about what we do during a psychedelic session. However, there is even more benefit to be gained from a psychedelic trip. The preparation of the trip is much more important than what one would expect.

We believe that a healthy body provides a healthy basis to be mentally healthy as well. We therefore do everything we can to address all facets of existence and that is why we also advise our customers on basic nutrition, exercise and supplements. The whole approach for body and mind ensures the best results in the short and long term. We usually use a schedule for most customers that looks like this:

  1. Registration, neurotransmitter test and intake
  2. Advice on nutrition, exercise and supplements based on point 1
  3. Watch a 2-3 week progression from point 2
  4. An individual psychedelic ceremony (unless a group has additional utility or preference)
  5. Debriefing of the truffle ceremony on the same day
  6. After about 1-2 weeks another debriefing
