Legislation regarding MDMA therapy in the Netherlands

MDMA is on List 1 of the Dutch Opium Act. This would mean that it is more harmful to health than the soft drugs on List 2. Because of this classification, MDMA is illegal to possess. Because of this legislation, which we believe is not entirely in line with the scientific truth, it is therefore easy to legally use the therapeutic benefits of MDMA therapy.

Scientific studies into MDMA therapy

No fewer than 112 scientific studies into the effects of MDMA treatment on PTSD, trauma and anxiety are now ongoing. This is of course not without reason, as previous studies showed good results.

Forecast of MDMA therapy in the Netherlands

Due to the many positively completed studies into MDMA and psilocybin, the expectation is that this will be the case in 2025 psilocybin therapy will become legal again and shortly afterwards also MDMA therapy. Our estimate for legalization for MDMA sessions is now 2026. This is an 'educated guess' so don't hold us to it!

Alternatives MDMA

Here in the Netherlands we can legally offer psilocybin therapy by not using the pure substance psilocybin, but the psilocybin-containing magic truffles. Psilocybin and MDMA do differ in effect, with MDMA mainly changing mood and openness, psilocybin also gives hallucinations. Those extra hallucinations can be used or judged as a disadvantage and an advantage.
